Chakalaka is thought to have originated in the gold mines around Johannesburg. Mineworkers cooked tomatoes and beans to produce this spicy chilli relish. You can vary your Chakalaka by adding almost any vegetables you have to hand. Finely chop and grate your tomatoes, beans and vegetables, cook in a saucepan with a little water and add the Peak blend for an amazing relish.
You can also use this blend as a dry rub, marinade (mixed with oil) or a flavouring to sprinkle on before or during cooking.
